If a listed title has more than one number, or has brackets with letters in it after the title, i.e, 2876(ABC), then it means that particular title is on is on more than one disk, i.e, a title with 2 or more numbers or letters after it, is on 2 or more disks and costs the price of 2 or more disks etc. Codes in front of a disk number will tell you what machine they run on:- A + sign means that a title works fine on the A500+, A600 and the A1200. Anything with an X in at the start is AGA (A1200 & A4000) only. After disk "2700" we dropped A500 compatibility, although some may still work on the A500 after this we don't test them nowadays. You can now use the scroll gadgets to quickly skip through the text, you can also use the search facility from the pull down menus so you don't have to read several thousand lines of my quality crap reviews! It is played over a period of a couple of months by 2 or more people. The Empire world consists of a toroidal grid of sectors consisting of regular land, mountains and water. Players govern countries, which start out as a pair of adjacent sectors and soon spread into large areas requiring much management and protection. Various sector types can be created which build ships, bridges, guns, shells, airplanes, and which make medical and technological breakthroughs. Others are things like radar stations, weather stations, fortresses, highways, warehouses, etc. A typical Empire game is only over when just one country remains. A special country, the Deity, is available, which has godlike powers to modify sectors, ships, etc. The Deity is normally run by someone not playing another country and has the responsibility of fixing up any problems which occur. +24 HACK V1.0.1E ---------------- Hack is a Dungeons and Dragons like game where you (the adventurer) descend into the depths of the dungeon in search of the Amulet of Yendor (reputed to be hidden below the twentieth level). You are accompanied by a little dog that can help you in many ways and can be trained to do all sorts of things. On the way you will find useful (or useless) items, (quite possibly with magic properties) and assorted monsters. Unlike most adventure games, which give you a verbal description of your location, hack gives you a visual image of the dungeon level you are on. 44 STARRAY DEMO --------------- This is a playable demo of Star Ray (the 1st level) a game very reminiscent to Defender. Ultra fast smooth scrolling and good gameplay. 71 GAMES -------- This disc contains a selection of games, 2 written with Abasic (supplied as well). Features: Amoeba Invaders (Brilliant space invaders game) Tron Cycles game, Cluedo (great adaption of the board game), Monopoly, Klondike (great cards patience game) and Missile Command. +83 GRAVATTACK V0.99 -------------------- An excellent playable PD game here, one of the best PD games existing! Basically resembles the sucessful 'Thrust' type game. You have a small craft which you have to move around a set of obstructions and collect keys in order to reach the next level, of which there are 17. Play is by keyboard but doesn't detract from a really addictive game which most people get more out of than some commercial releases. 135 GAMES --------- Backgammon, Cosmo, MissileCommand, TunnelVision, 3D Breakout (needs 3d glasses) and Cosmo Version II. +147 E.A PREVIEWS ----------------- A non-playable demo of Battle Chess and a playable demo of Fusion. Both games by Electronic Arts. +149 MORIA V3.0 --------------- Moria is a dungeon adventure game in the manner of Rogue, Hack, Larn, etc., but not descended from Rogue. Moria was originally created by Robert Alan Koeneke for a VAX 780 (a supermini computer). It is a game similar to the above games in that it involves wizards, warriors, scroll, potions, magic. In order to win the game the player must perform certain tasks. In this case he/she must destroy the Balrog that lurks in the lower levels of the dungeons below your village. Moria, however is much bigger and more detailed than the other D&D type games, and requires considerable dedication, and determination to triumph over the forces of evil. 165 CRIMETOWN DEPTH ------------------- Some nice graphics and animation make up a nice product demo of Mirrorsofts Italian game, Crimetown Depth. +175 LARN V12.3 --------------- A great rpg in the style of Hack but with more features and superb gameplay. Once `Into' it you play for HOURS! One of our favourite PD discs yet. Great for RPG fans, works fine in 512K and is highly reccomended. Poor graphics no sound but really playable! 181 DRAGONS LAIR ---------------- Fantastic cartoon quality animation sequences in the demo for the game Dragons Lair. Great demo! Sound with 1.5meg and upwards +204 BUGGY COMMANDO ------------------- A playable demo rather like the old Moon Alert/Moon Buggy games, control your buggy over obstacles. 282 PARANOID ------------ Very good PD Arkanoid clone that even includes a screen designer. Good value for a PD game of German origin. +307 AGATRON GAMES ------------------ 3 Games by Agatron, Mad Race, Space Race and Light Cycles 3D (a nice version of Tron in 3D by Tobias Richter).Also included are a 3D object editor called Viking, IFFload and IFF-C utilities, Taskmanager, Selector and Blinker (a utility to flash the power led). +309 STAR TREK V1.0 ------------------- The 1meg Star Trek game featured just about all over the place. It's on 3 discs and plays close to the St commercial version i.e not brilliant but for Trekkies and sci-fi fans its good value. Remember you will need all 3 discs. +310 STAR TREK V1.0 ------------------- Disk two of the above game. +311 STAR TREK V1.0 ------------------- Disk three of the above game. 355 BLOOD MONEY --------------- A nice playable demo of Blood Money by Psygnosis, one of the better shoot`em ups to appear in a long while (actually we werent too keen until we played it, its very addictive!) this demo allows 1 or 2 players (simultaneous) to play the first level. Good demo. Great Game! +370 TENNIS ----------- Anyone for Tennis?? This 1meg Tennis game allows two people to battle it out on centre court using their joysticks.This german shareware program was sent by a friend of ours, Guido who writes for a German PD magazine. Hi guido - hope the music was ok! 402 BLIZZARD ------------ Nice playable uridium-style sort of game. Written by a german chap. Nice music. Thanks to Guido for sending it! +430 GOLDEN FLEECE ------------------ A full adventure game by Jim MacBryne - The Golden Fleece, an epic adventure and it has a real good parser (that means you can type take everything except the vaseline and rubber hose) - Jim Reckons its as good as anything by INFOC*M - why not try it out? Thanks must go to Jim for submitting it to us! +445 CASTLE ADVENTURE --------------------- Castle Of Doom! An adventure game with graphics more suitable for the beginner. Simple parser and fairly easy going. +454 GAMES & BITS ----------------- Various Games. Includes a really playable of the Arcade game "Qix", Blue- Moon which is a card patience game, Orbit 3D gravitational shoot em up!, Wordsearch - gives you random word puzzles to attempt. Asteroids - updated version with better graphics than the older version.Filling up the space is the marvelous Tree Frog animation as featured in The One last month. 458 IT CAME FROM THE DESERT --------------------------- It's crawled out from Cinemaware and is attacking your screens. A great product demo for the already famous game It Came from the Desert! Based on all the classic 50's bug movies get this and find out what all the fuss is about. Spectacular sound and animation plus of course a superb intro sequence. +483 XENON II ------------- A demo of the game Xenon 2, contains half of the first level and should be enough to convince anyone of the sheer quality of this game! 492 WERNER ---------- A great little game from the German PD sent to me by Guido Coenen. It involves taking your man around the screen to collect his beer! You haven't got it easy as some guys are chasing you and also you have to avoid and maneouvre around falling rocks in true bolderdash style. Great for PD! +497 BATTLE SQUADRON -------------------- Heres a demo to make your trigger finger itch! This is a product demo of Battle Squadron which is the follow up to Hybris. Featuring full Pal scrolling, twin player simultaneous action, added horizontal scrolling (as in the game Sidewinder). Great sound, great graphics and probably the most arcade lookalike yet to appear. 498 RALLY CROSS --------------- Another product demo. This is a demo of Ancos playable `Rally Cross` a 4 player super sprint clone that includes new tracks and night driving by headlights. Looks very good. +514 SPACE ACE DEMO ------------------- Readysoft`s follow up to the amazing Dragons Lair is here and it looks even better than the first! Nearly half a minute of top notch, near faultless animation from the game. PLUS Readysoft have excelled themselves in the compression department as they have managed to squeeze a whole host of samples in as well, including the unforgetable "I`ve only been kidnapped by aliens, thats all!" 522 INTERPHASE DEMO ------------------- Imageworks latest looks like being one of, if not, THE best 3D game yet seen on an Amiga. Superb graphics and speed, and a decent plot to boot. A sort of strategy come action game that should please most games players out there. Heres a chance to see before you buy. 525 GHOSTBUSTERS II ------------------- Play one level from Activisions megabucks film license. +528 DRAGONS BREATH ------------------- Dragons Breath Demo. The intro and a few stills from Palace`s "RolePlaying/ Strategy Game of 1990", anyone who saw the work in progress feature on this game in The One recently would`ve seen the amazing graphics, now's your chance to see them for "real" on screen.The whole thing is backed by some very nice atmospheric music. +530 TV SPORTS BASKETBALL ------------------------- Cinemaware Basketball Slideshow. 8 Pictures from Cinemawares forthcoming simulation. More great graphics from one of the leading Amiga Developers The game will be coming out sometime in 1990 via Mirrorsoft, and if this demo is anything to go by, it should be pretty amazing! Just to prove 17Bit are THE leading PD suppliers we actually received this demo BEFORE Mirrorsoft even knew one existed! How`s that for speed??!! +555 X-OUT ---------- Playable demo of the soon to be released shoot em up from the German based company. This first level plays very well and the game should be something to look out for! It's asort of underwater R-Type with loads of extra weapons to blast all the nasty baddies!! 556 THE HOLY GRAIL ------------------ The follow up to The Golden Fleece (Disk 430). Good text only adventure that has you on a quest for..well the Holy Grail! Excellent parser and very well presented. A must for all adventure fans every where! +595 STAR TREK V1.0 ------------------- Brilliant 2 disk game from the ultimate trekkie Tobias Richter, designer of all the AGATRON Star Trek animations, and part of the team that brought us Oil Imperium, Tobias has now released his latest game into the Public Domain. Featuring brilliant (as you'd expect) graphics and sampled sound, this has you on a journey where no man has ventured before, a journey into space (The Final Frontier etc etc) where you must carry out a series of missions, search out various planets, avoid the enemies ships, Captain your ship and ensure the safe keeping of your staff. +596 STAR TREK V1.0 ------------------- Disk two of the above game. +607 ST BASH ------------ Great PD space invaders type shoot-em-up from a 17Bit member in Germany The aim is to blast your way through 520 levels of St related sprites (spinning ST logos etc), and there are several various levels of play so you can make the game as easy or as difficult as you want. With all the available options and great playability this will keep you amused for quite a while and should keep your kids quiet for an hour or two!! +621 E-MOTION ------------- Playable demo of U.S. Golds strategy puzzle game. 4 levels are on here for you to test out. Looks very good indeed, ideal for those of you who like to use your old grey matter rather than just sit down and blast! +628 DRAGONS LAIR 2 DEMO ------------------------ Remember Space Ace? Well here is the 3rd demo of a ReadySoft/Bluth game, Dragons Lair 2:Escape from Singes Castle. Excellent demo yet again featuring brilliant near faultless animation that is almost identical to the arcade. Requires 3 MB of RAM to run. +629 DRAGONS LAIR 2 DEMO ------------------------ Disk 2 of above animation. +650 ATOMIX DEMO ---------------- Great puzzle game from Thalion. Move the atoms around the screen to arrange a molecular structure. This extremely addictive demo features a few PLAYABLE levels from the game! 653 TURRICAN ------------ Preview version of Rainbow Arts game. 3 levels taken from the game, run around blasting the enemy, collect crystals and extra weapons. A great PLAYABLE demo of a great game NOT AN ST PORT! Excellent gfx and sonix and it's really playable. +699 PSEUDO COP --------------- Very tough game from the guys at Pseudo Ops - Thanks Guys!! A game based on the film Robocop this is a left-right scrolling shoot-em-up that puts you in the role of ED209, blasting everything in sight. One for the ardent gamester, anyone who cant get more than ten points on Xenon 2 should stay away. +746 BIONIX ----------- By Mirage a shoot em-up for aimless fun, if you've got the odd 5 to 10 minutes to spare at the end of the day get this disk so that you can play. *759 GAMES GALORE ----------------- Amoeba Invaders is a Space Invaders look-a-like. It's essentially the same game, but has a touch of Amiga pizazz. Awesome features such as real colour and real sound have been added Chess plays a fairly respectable game of chess, although it is not competetive with a state-of-the art commercial program. Drip is an arcade style game with 15 floors (levels). You must move along the pipes of each floor and rust them to advance to the next level. Every 3 floors completed will entitle you to a bonus round where extra drips can be won. An extra drip will also be awarded for every 10,000 points. Tic Tac Toe is a simple game of noughts and crosses written purely for fun. +775 PROPERTY MARKET -------------------- Can you become a Multi-Millionaire before you are 65. You can try in the Property Market with this good little game. *+781 GAMES GALORE VOL #2 ------------------------ Blue Moon is a solitaire or patience game played with a full 52 card deck. Jackland is a simple text adventure, set in the completely fictional Atrashi Computer Company, owned by the completely fictional Jack Trammeler and run by assorted members of his completely fictional family. This adventure uses single-key commands. Larn is a great rpg in the style of Hack but with more features and superb gameplay. Once `Into' it you play for HOURS! One of our favourite PD discs yet. Great for RPG fans, works fine in 512K and is highly reccomended. Poor graphics no sound but really playable! WellTrix, for those who have not seen the original, is a quasithree- dimensional version of Tetris©. The game is played in a well (thus, the name). Playing pieces are formed by combining two, three, four (or more) squares into a shape. 795 BATTLEFORCE V3.6 -------------------- A nicely done shareware game that simulates combat between two or more giant, robot-like machines. +827 GAMES GALORE #3 -------------------- MM is a implementation of the game Mastermind. In this game you must try to guess a color combination which the Amiga sets per random generator. There are 6 colors which can set in any number. The player must guess the combination by setting an own combination, which the Amiga will rate by following scheme. The object of Gravity Wars is for one player to hit the other player's ship with a missle, before being hit yourself. The ships and planets don't move, but aiming the missle in the presence of gravity fields and black holes makes hitting your target difficult. Miniblast is a shoot'em up game which runs just fine in a multitasking environment. At last you can enjoy a satisfying megablast while you are writing a boring essay. Shoot anything that moves, and if it doesn't move, shoot it anyway. +890 GAMES GALORE #4* -------------------- Car is a two-dimensional fully scrolling racing game. It uses the whole screen (PAL or NTSC with "OVERSCAN"!) boosted with four channels realistic STEREO sound. Diplomacy is a "conquer the map" type game which is published by Avalon Hill. It is designed for seven players with variations for as few as two players. This software is designed to enhance this game by keeping track of the various parameters, resolving the orders and controlling the flow. Egyptian Run is a cute little "road race + hazards" type game. IFF2PCS (IFF-to-pieces) is an interactive puzzle program. In IFF2PCS, the user's goal is to put a picture back together from square pieces. The picture can be created from any IFF program, and can have upto 16 colors. Mutants From Mars is a Droids-type game wherein you move a spaceman around on the screen trying to get the mars mutants to crash into each other and die. Other mutants will be killed when they run into the radioactive heap left behind. 895 GODS -------- Playable demo of an old classic game from The Bitmap Brothers. +896 BRAT --------- Superb 3D scrolling platform puzzle game. Playable demo version. 900 SUPERCARS 2 --------------- Gremlin Graphics have come up trumps again with the sequel to Supercars. With its fast paced action packed gameplay you will be glued to this game for hours upon hours upon hours. Playable demo version. +930 TECHNOTRON --------------- Light cycles futuristic style. This is another version of Light Cycles, from the Walt Disney film Tron, the film that started a trend of computer titles. +964 MOONSHINE RACERS --------------------- Here's a product about a game where you have to do an illegal act by getting moonshine to its destination. The intro is brilliant, the music is great but the game looks to be a real dog. Playable demo version. 971 GAMESDISK #1 ---------------- Rebound, Invaders, Gridrunner. 979 7 TILES ----------- This is a nice game from Alpha Flight, it is a Speedball clone with no violence! The graphics are small but neat. An enjoyable experience. +980 STAR TREK:THE NEXT GENERATION ---------------------------------- What, another Star Trek game, well yes, but this one is a lot more involved and is in interlaced mode! +1017 SEALANCE -------------- Game based on a Trident submarine simulator. You must use the weapons at your disposal to liberate the earth's cities from alien occupation. 1021 EMERALD MINE ----------------- A game that is very much like the old classic Boulderdash, very good with superb gameplay. +1046 SHAPES ------------ Superb puzzle game, can you fill up the black areas of the screen with the correct objects in the time alloted. One of the best PD games to come out for quite a while, this will keep you hooked for a long time. +1048 EMPIRE V2.3w ------------------ Empire is a multiplayer game of exploration, economics, war, etc, which can last a couple of months. Can be played either on the local keyboard or remotely through a modem. +1052(AB) TRUCKIN ON -------------------- Excellent 2 player game based on trucks. Very much in the same vain as Ports of Call. 1056 BATTLE PONG ----------------- Remember the first arcade game Pong, well here's an upgraded version of the old bat 'n' ball game, this one has different weapons and special features, +1058 ZEUS ---------- Another very playable game, very much in the sokoban style, a very good and challenging brain teaser. +1062 BITS 'N' BATS ------------------- 4 different programs make up this disk.2 puzzles as well as a shoot-em-up which was created by using SEUCS. There is also a very good stopwatch. +1063 BITS 'N' BATS 2 --------------------- Yet another disk full of things to use and play with. There is an excellent version of Concentration on this disk. +1064 BITS 'N' BATS 3 --------------------- More simple but intriguing games and utilities to get your teeth into. Excellent version of Yatchzee as well as a Chinese solitaire game. +1065 BITS 'N' BATS 4 --------------------- Another 2 great little games on here, including Tron'90 plus the superb program Textplus. 1069 ATIC ATAC -------------- Oh Dear! Spectrum games being converted to the Amiga, what is the world coming to? It's not as bad as you would have thought, it's quite playable and after a while the action is quite gripping! Well worth a look. +1113 GAMES GALORE #6 --------------------- ATC is a program that simulates an air traffic regional control center. You are the controller, and you direct the planes (up to 8 at a time) to the airport. You control the planes' heading, altitude and speed. You receive points for directing the planes correctly to the airport. You also have to contend with planes departing from the same airport, and you have to make sure that the planes do not collide with each other. You also have only a limited amount of time to get the plane to the airport. You receive fewer points for a late flight, and if a flight is very late, it will run out of fuel and crash. CRobots is a game based on computer programming. Unlike arcade type games which require human input controlling some object, all strategy in CRobots must be complete before the actual game begins. Game strategy is condensed into a C language program that you design and write. Your program controls a robot whose mission is to seek out, track, and destroy other robots, each running different programs. Each robot is equally equipped, and up to four robots may compete at once. CRobots is best played among several people, each refining their own robot program, then matching program against program. King's Korner Solitaire is a simple little solitaire game that is quick to play and contains several levels of difficulty. Raps is a game played by two players on a 4 x 4 board, each player having four pieces. The objective is to get one of your pieces to the other end of the board, or to get rid of all your opponent's pieces. +1114 GAMES GALORE #7 --------------------- Mines is a program where you try to traverse a minefield. In the field are some number of mines, but you won't know where they are located. Instead, when you move to an area that does not contain a mine, Mines will reveal the quantity of mines immediately surrounding it, from 0 to 8. The idea of Pipeline is to let the oil flow for a certain time.On the play- field are several walls, specials and a starting position.On the left, five pieces of a pipeline are shown. You can control the white cursor on the play- field with a joystick, and when you press the fire-button, the piece on the bottom of the five can be set to the cursor-position. +1145 PACMAN ------------ This dated type of game still has its fans, and with me being a fan i quite enjoyed this. I wont say anymore about this as you probably know what it's all about. +1154 NAPOLEONIC WARFARE SIMULATOR ---------------------------------- This is a strategy game in which there are no graphics just text, it is a very in depth game and is great fun seeing the enemy crumble at your feet. 1155 MASTER OF THE TOWN ----------------------- This game reminds one of Hogan's Alley in the arcades, but instead of shooting people with your gun you are throwing stones to do as much damage to property as possible, before the police arrive on the scene, if you destroy everything possible you will be rewarded by moving onto a more challenging screen, excellent game. 1159 DARK STAFF --------------- This was an adventure game in the days when the Spectrum ruled. Dark Staff in considered as Shareware although the Spectrum emulator supplied on this disk is PD. +1166 STOCK MARKET ------------------ Stockmarket is based on trading on a mythical Australian `Stock Market'. Your opponents are, indirectly the public at large, and directly, another 'human' known possibly as a friend, or the computer. The computer opponent can be set to a moderately hard game as a Novice and called The Bulls, or the best it can do on the information available as Experienced and called The Bears. Share price rises and falls depend upon market forces generated logically within the game. The movement of prices are not haphazard. You, the investor, must decide how big an effect if any, you think any particular situation has. As in real life it will have varying effects on different companies, even on companies in the same group of activities. When two humans play there is a special feature for a private deal between them on any company in which either owns shares. In "Playing" the Stockmarket, the object is to better your opponent by owning and controlling as many companies as possible, thereby becoming the richest player. Not only do you have an opponent to beat, you must become the best player of all time as shown in the game's history listing compiled by you. +1174 SCUM HATERS ----------------- Created using SEUCS, another Brazzle Atkins production.This is a nice little game involving violence and destruction as you can clean up the streets of East London from maniacs and street fighters.The opening screen features digitised graphics of gruesome killing events. +1179 THE LAMER GAME -------------------- This is similar to the "Hit the Gopher" games found at arcades and amusements, whereby you have to hit the Gopher on the head with the hammer as they keep popping up faster and faster.The Lamer Game in a simulator of that, but this time the hammer is the mouse, so to speak. +1273 TOMCAT ------------ A game that was written using SEUCS, nice graphics with adequate sound. What more could you ask for, for just 1.50. +1281 MEGABALL -------------- OK. You all know how to play an Arkanoid clone, right? I don't have to explain that you have a paddle and a ball and you must bounce the ball into some blocks to score points, right? And I certainly don't need to mention that if you let the ball miss the paddle and drop off the screen you will die, right? And I also don't need to explain about how little bonuses can drift down from the blocks and if they touch your paddle they can do anything from giving you free lives to blowing you up, depending on the little pictures on the bonuses as they are drifting down, right? Good. I was afraid I'd have to put a lengthy explanation here! +1282 JUMPY ----------- This has to be one of the more infuriating of games on the PD scene.You control a little guy who collects bones. Very good. +1284 CHINESE CHECKERS ---------------------- The age ole 6 player game of Chinese Checkers has finally arrived on the Amiga, this excellent game plays mean and fast, you will need all your brain cells to win this one. +1285 GAME ATTACK ----------------- Tanx, Rollerpede, Amigoids, Cave Runner, Avatris. +1287 THUNDER JAWS ------------------ Arcade adventure with a bit of blasting. This is a playable version of a commercial title. +1290 PURE FUN -------------- Hollywood, Connex, Yatz, Klondike. +1342 CASTLE OF DOOM -------------------- This adventure game is meant for beginners with a good parser and pretty graphics. If you`re into adventures or just starting out you could do a lot worse than take a look at this disk. +1350 POM POM GUNNER -------------------- Bang Bang Bang.....Shoot down the Japs in this game of Pearl Harbour.Let me just point out that we are NOT racist, and have nothing against the Japanese, the game is only in the library as people have asked for it. 1351 WIZZYS QUEST ----------------- Wizzys Quest has 50 levels, getting progressively harder, and the final animation is worth persevering for. You have to use your wizard to create and destroy blocks on each screen to create a safe path for your master to walk to the exit. There are various monsters (skeletons, wraiths, beholders and jack o' lanterns) to hinder you, each with different characteristics, as well as locks, keys and transporters. The closest reference point is Lemmings, but Wizzys Quest is quite a unique game. +1354 RETURN TO EARTH --------------------- This is a game in the same vein as ELITE, but obviously nowhere near as good as the classic....But still worth having. +1365 GAMES ----------- Boomerang, Dominion, Shark, Gerbils & Star Trek. +1367 CARD GAMES ---------------- BlueMoon, Hearts, King, Cribbage & Patience. +1373 LLAMATRON + METAGALACTIC LLAMAS ------------------------------------- Llamatron is a fast, original rendering of the eighties 'Robotron' by Williams. BombClear: Try and find all the bombs hidden behind the blank tiles. Press the left button to uncover a tile (which will explode if there is a bomb underneath it) or the right button to put down a marking flag if you think there is a there is a bomb under that tile. The game is over when all the bombs are found or your dead. Killer Tomatoes: Micky the manic magic mushroom is being chased by the terrible tomatoes (what is this garbage) and its your job to stop him getting eaten. This is not a speed game and is controled by the mouse. You take it in turns to move around the screen (ah nice) and avoid being supper. The object is to deplete your enemy of all his energy before he does the same to you. The more damage a player causes another, the more money they get. The more money a player receives, the larger the weapons they can buy. This is a very simple concept, but extreemly addictive! This game is a spin off of the PC classic, Scorched Earth. +3082(AB) ANT WARS ------------------ This is an absolutely brilliant game which can only be described as a cross between Lemmings and Cannon Fodder. The object of the game is to simply blow up all the bad ants. Actually carrying out the mindless executions is a bit more difficult. Like in lemmings, you must dig, climb, build, etc your way through the scenery before you can take a pot-shot at the enemy. It is a platform game with the main sprite being a large knob. It follows the same vein as Wibble World Giddy but far more explicit. The tasks involved include paying a visit to the local prostitute and other such sexual orientated stuff. The gfx and sound are excellent, far better then WWG. Your job is to guide fastflows son through the game solving the puzzles etc and finally defeating the inhabitants of the castle so that once again the villagers can live in peace. This is a 2 player game. One player controls Russia, the other player controls America. The object is to destroy the enemy with your nuclear arsenal. The game is played in turns. A turn consists of selecting a launch site, setting the launch heading and elevation and then firing. It sounds good, it looks good and it is good. The idea is to eat as many of the apples as possible whilst avoiding getting trapped behind walls as the screen scrolls. The only way you can die is to be forced into one of the sides of the playing area. There are quite a few moves to be mastered although i couldnt make any of them work. The game is quite old but i haven't seen anything like it before. The gfx and sound are a bit ropey but what the hell when theres nothing else around. Choose from 3 different opponents and get well and truly slaughtered cause its rock hard. ** 2 DISK DRIVES REQUIRED ** +3296 NANOFLY ------------- An excellent shootem-up with some hugh levels which should keep you entertained for ages. You pilot the NanoFly into the Nano-Tech Tower. It is no easy ride though. While inside your aim is to destroy as many of the purple floppy disks as possible. There are a number of items to help you. These include extra flies, energy replacers, rocket decoys, restart points and various other stuff. +3304 SEED OF DARKNESS ---------------------- Another graphic adventure from Asa Margetts. Set way back in history, you must save the planet (or something like that anyway), by defeating the mad axemen, ogres and other such medieval nonsense. NSEW, Pickup, Drop. All the usual stuff you would find in this type of game. +3305 MARBLES ------------- This is a very annoying, infuriating but BRILLIANT puzzle game. The object is simple, guide the marble to the exit. There are many obstacles in your way though. One way blocks, teleports, exploding blocks etc etc. Highly recommended. +3306 SOLO ASSAULT ----------------- A cross between Wing Commander and Return of the Jedi. The game is split into various sections. Each with a theme. Either dodging the Asteroids, shooting the enemy planes or lightsabre fighting. The gfx and sfx are superb and the whole game has a very proffessional feel to it. Great stuff. +3309 THE GREAT GOLD RAID ------------------------- An very old but very addictive VIC 20 conversion. Yep indeedy. Harking back to the days when 8k was far too much to fill this game was doing the rounds. Basically you must go get the bag of gold coins and take it back to your `pad'. There are various creepy crawlies wandering around the screen which are quite harmless until you get the gold. Then they go bananas chasing you everywhere. Thats it really. One for nostalgia freaks. +3311 MARTIAL SPIRIT -------------------- This is a reasonable beatem-up game which should appeal to kids (cause there aint no blood and guts). A managerial section where the player must manage their finances effectively, upgrading their cars capabilities as and when they see fit, and the racing game. All aspects of racing are taken into account. I.E. Engines, Aerodynamics, Tyres, Chassis, Pit Crew etc etc. An excellent game. +3398 JUDGEMENT DAY ------------------- Judgement Day is a similar game to Demolition Mission. The exception that this game works on all Amigas. The object is simple. Fly your plane across the screen whilst destroying the different sized skyscrapers below. After every pass, the plane gets lower and lower. The idea is to collect a key (which isn't always in the same place) and then go to the GOAL sign at the end of the level. Collect coins and other goodies to boost your score, collect power-ups to give you extra abilities. You may notice that some creatures kill you, some don't. In the final game, the ending is controlled by you - kill enough harmless creatures and you'll go to hell, kill enough nasty creatures and you'll go to heaven (both are bonus levels). Kill an equal amount of both for a third outcome. After travelling for 37 years into deep space, UK arks malfunctioned and the nation was awoken. They had been stranded in an Asteroid Belt, but some one else was after it as well, another nation that had the same problem, UK must claim the belt, something must be done. This is a fully payable Sim City/Settlers game preview. The main difference between games like Sim City and Total domination, is that Total domination 2, is played entirely in space! Good twist of the original! +4196 LASER RACE ---------------- This game is a great Light cycles clone. For those of you with no idea what Light Cycles is, it was an old game inspired by the film "Tron" and was released on the BBC computer and such like. The object of the game in to keep driving without crashing into your own or your opponents tale, which is easier said than done. The game has been spiced up into the 90's with nice music, flash graphics, bonus items, the ability to jump etc. Very addictive and very payable game! Can be played by 1 or 2 people! +4197 KNOCK OUT --------------- Another little goodie! This is a sort of futuristic stock car racing game. The idea is to knock your opponents off the race track - that is ever decreasing in size! Once you have knocked em off they will die a most horrible death and be sucked into oblivion! I sometimes wonder if the creators of games like doom, gloom, and so on, got inspiration from games like this? The higher levels get harder because the higher power droids, can shoot back at you, and they get faster, more intelligent, and more powerful! However, it shouldn't be too hard for you to eventually kill your way to the end level, just as long as manage to takeover enough brains! +4239 NIMBLE! ------------- Nimble is an addictive graphical puzzle game (similar to the Valhalla). Good fun but rather difficult! +4292 BOULDER DASH V4.00 ------------------------ There are loads of boulder dash clones out there in the PD, only a select few have appeared in our library! This one is about as identical to the original as identical can get! You do know bolder dash? Yes? No? Well it was the most classic game on the C64 and it is one of the best game ideas ever. Basically you have too go around a maze and avoid the falling rocks (which can kill you) and collect all the crystals, then make your way to the exit, before the time runs out. A simple but enjoyable sort of game which soon gets tricky in the higher levels! +4308 ROACH MOTEL ----------------- Groovy platformer game, stamp on the roaches, collect the spray cans, good! Artillerus was slow, quirky, and not all that good. When it came out though, it was the closest thing to Scorched Earth on the PC, so it was well received- it was the best Artillery game on he Amiga, period. Then Mike Welch came out with Scorched Tanks, which was similar to Artillerus, but a much better example of how an Artillery game should be done. It was slick from top to bottom and fun to play. Thus, Charr was born! The basic concept behind Charr is simultaneous action. Many different weapons can be fired at once and in different patterns with each "bullet" proceeding independent of the others. For example, a lava can be flowing while another shot is still in the air and a bomb is exploding. There are only 26 weapons in the game; but when used together, millions of combinations can be achieved. This creates great variety and there are no scripted gimmicky weapons (like in Artillerus). I've tried to make everything about Charr smooth, professional, and open-ended. In some ways this is similar to the many Worms type game clones that are around at the moment! +4317 POPCORN ------------- Popcorn is a scrolling 3D board "maze-game" that consists of 25 levels. You play the role of Jill, famous space-heroine. The objective of the game is to collect popcorn for your popcorn-powered rocket. The popcorn are spread out all over the planet, and are popping slowly on the hot surface. Jill also has to look out for the three types of creatures that live on the planet. If Jill gets hit by a creature, she will lose one life and float up in the air for a couple of seconds. During that time, you can still move Jill and for instance move her away from the creature (what a bright idea eh!). Don't fall off and don't get eaten, just collect those bits of popcorn, very good! +4318 PILL MANIA ---------------- PillMania is based upon an idea "borrowed" from Nintendo. It reminds of the well-known game Tetris, but it is actually better! Although it may at first glance look like Tetris in the way the game works, it is not merely a Tetris-clone. The object of the game is to clear a pill-bottle of bugs. These nasty little suckers are of three colors: red, green, and blue. By changing the level, you can choose the difficulty, that is: the number of bugs in the bottle. From the top, PILLS will drop, which you can steer. Each pill consists of two halfs, each in one of the three mentioned colours. The point is to arrange these pills, so that four of the same colour will be aligned, either horizontally or vertically, which will lead to the elimination of the four- on-a-row. The only way to rid yourself of the bugs is the include them in the "accidents", so that they blow up. well that's the best I can do! It's bit hard to describe really, but basically speaking it's a VERY GOOD Tetrus / Dr Mario clone! +4319 ROBOT REBELLION V2.2 ------------------------- Unusual platform game thing. Crap graphics but great fun to play! +4321 INFILTRATOR ----------------- The playing area is divided into two halves both players have their own halve. Object of the game is to make a goal on your opponents halve , if you manage to do that you will be rewarded one point , however if your opponent hits you in his own zone you'll lose one point. All in all a good 2 player game, simple but fun, and a bit hard to describe?!?! +4322 THE LAST REFUGE --------------------- Easily rivals Deluxe Galaga and such like! Don't be put off by this slightly crap review it's a great shoot em up game! Nice sound track, superb graphics and game play! Can not fault it! +4323 CYBER SPHERE DEMO ----------------------- Playable demo of a great break-out clone. +4324 ALIEN HUNTER ------------------ One of the best games we have had in a long time! Alien hunter is an over head alien breed clone, with miniature cannon fodder style graphics! If you like miniature sprite games stuff, then this is for you! +4325 MINSKIES & FURBALLS ------------------------- This is a sort of a Dr Mario / tetrus clone. The object of the game is a little different. You have to get four furballs in a row and stay alive longer than your opponent to win. Can be played by 1 or 2 players. Brilliant game! +4326 TUBEULAR WORLDS --------------------- This is a superb Project-X style shoot'em up with superb graphics! Horizontal scrolling is something the Amiga is very good at, and this game really show it! +4329 SENSI MASSACRE -------------------- Do you hold a grudge against a certain foot ball team? Or maybe you just don't like foot ball? Well this is not really a foot ball game, the object is to shoot the hell out of the players as they run around a foot ball pitch! Silly, but fun! +4330 TRW LEMMINGS ------------------ PD Lemmings clone! +4334 WOOGLIES -------------- Maze-game in the style of Pengo featured earlier in our library. The maze is made up of blocks, which you can push. You have to trap the wooglie before he eats you! If that sounds confusing (and it probably does), play the game, and you'll understand what I meant. 2 free games also included on this disk! +4336 NIBBLER SUPER X --------------------- This is a bit like a one of those old snake style games, where you have to eat the pill things and make you self longer to score pints, but at the same time avoid crashing into yourself! This old game idea has been transformed into the 90's with a fancy maze thing to navigate around plus flash graphics & sound to boot! +4338 BRICK FIGHTER ------------------- Hey presto another Break-out / Arkanoid game clone, this one is quite good! 2 free games also included on this disk! +4348(ABCD) ANGST ----------------- Gloom / Doom clone and a very big one at that! ANGST from RAVE software WAS originally going to be a commercial release, but they have decided to bring it out as PD. Let me quickly tell you the basic premise: You are a new worker on a star freighter, you awaken in the middle of the night to find your cremates dead. Enemy aliens have you biological weapons to slice thought the hull of the ship and destroy the crew. All manor of beast and machine have been unleashed into your ship to destroy the crew, and allow their alien keepers to board the ship and take it without any resistance. You've got to get off the ship - somehow. At the start of the game you have NO security clearance. As the game progresses you will find access cards scattered around bodies. You will also find weapons scattered throughout the ship. Superb stuff! It's sort of a Spanish beat em up thing? The players do a dance as their fighting?!?!?! The only difference is that you are playing football on the moon!?!?! I know this sounds a bit odd, but this game is really C00L! Lets not forget that Sensible Soccer was the most popular game on the Amiga a few years ago, and more recently in, Amiga Format issue 100, Sensible Soccer was rated as the BEST GAME EVER to be produced in the history of the Amiag! This is an almost direct clone of the game, it is just as good too! +4412 SPACE CHASE ----------------- This is a great little platform game, it's a bit different to most platform games because it scrolls from bottom to top not from left to right. No documents came with the game so I'll make up a story line, which will hopefully describe the game for you in the process! Well anyway here goes - you play the part of a space super hero (called bob, don't ask why I called him bob he just is). Bobs mission is to free the world from evil alien slime. You are armed with a roller bomb launcher that can blow up things `n' stuff (which is pretty damn C00L)! The object of the game is to blow up all the fluggle bins (a space age equivalent of dust bins). The fluggle bins contain little creatures and some contain extra weapons etc. Some of the creatures have already escaped from the fluggle bins and you must kill these with your roller bombs, or they will eat you and take over the planet! When you have killed all the creatures you must make you must make your way to the exit (this will take you to the next level)! PS: Remember to avoid the slime and spike walls! The only other Public Domain Monopoly game I have seen is a version that was written back in the days when we were still using Disk Doctor! It wasn't that good (No offence to the author) and some guy had a few other ideas. Statistic Monopoly is full of features that you will either find extremely trivial or rather useful. Nice graphics and a lot less messy than the baud game (you wont have to look for the pieces under the settee/couch/arm chair any more! +4414 DELUXE MANOPOLY --------------------- This is another good computer version of Monopoly, this one is much the same as the above. The object of the game is to rescue all crew (and pet dogs!) from the space complex without crashing into the walls. The game soon gets tricks because you are continually having to battle the forces of gravity, in order to avoid crashing! Includes 2 very huge playable levels! C00L! +4422 BRUTAL HOMICIDE V1.96 --------------------------- Brutal Homicide is a game for two players, each player is awarded one half of the screen. I'd better say this in the beginning, and I will advise it more, TO GET FULL PLEASURE OF THIS GAME, TAPE A BOOK, PIZZABOX, OR ANYTHING TO DIVIDE THE MONITOR IN TWO HALVES. When you can see what the other player is up to it mostly spoils the fun and the whole idea of radars is rather useless, what's the point in buying a radar and then your pal can look on your radar without buying one of his own? But Jimmy is a skilled bubblegum shot, and the monsters can be killed by shooting them with the gum bubbles. Futhermore the bubbles can, and must, be used as platforms! Sometimes when an enemy is killed a bonusball appears, you can either just take it and get extra points, or you can shoot at it to make it change into a bonus weapon or extra life. The more bonusballs you pickup the more weapons you will have to choose from. There are loads of secret passages, and rooms in the game, try to find them as they will often make your quest a hole lot easier. The author has added some new ideas (and some gfx/sfx) of Emerald Mine by Kingsoft and a bunch of his own ideas (and ideas of friends, other users, ...) as well. The main goal is to collect enough "Emeralds" and reach the Exit in time. This task may be mastered alone or in teamwork. If you have a vague knowledge of what the game is about, you may start right now, playing the 25 Levels. They will introduce you into all of the important things and extras of Diamond Caves. The game requires a certain amount of skill. A1200 users will be pleased to hear that the faster and more powerful your machine is, the better the game play will be! Now why can't commercial games on the Amiga be this good? +4563 KRUSHA ------------ KRUSHA by Stuart Brown, was written in a very short time - about a month from conception to the finished game. The graphics have suffered due to the short time scale it was produced in, but yet again 101% game play makes up for this minor flaw! You are the wizzy red/white car in the centre of the screen. You have to try to squash the small pink/white cars, whilst avoiding the (nasty guy!) yellow steam roller. The pink cars are crushed when you drive over them, and another appears elsewhere. The steam roller follows you (slowly) and if he catches you he will crush you (eek)! The amount of cars you get and the time you last goes towards your score. The game soon gets frantic, due to the fact that the steam roller gets faster and faster! Provides a good laugh or two, as was proven by the fact we had a tournament here in the Qartz PD office!
